瞬即凋萎前的希望
A picture can tell a thousand words.
Were there only two alphabets left,
they would be enough to pocket the wind, 
the Spring sunshine, and the hope
before the azalea blossom swiftly drift off and wither.

The September sunlight was still harsh,

 but the lotus leaves shielded the flower and the seed pods 

with such golden will power

their veins would crack and crumble bearing the brunt.

五月初荷 還有點纖瘦
The lotus buds at the beginning of May are slender
彷彿不勝記憶 去秋再相逢的承諾
 as if they do not remember the promise, made in last autumn, to meet again 
那是世紀初未及說出 轉眼首如飛蓬的
a pledge sealed from the beginning of the millennia, not spoken in time,
and morphed into flying grey hair
梅雨竟嚴厲於暴雨
the plum rain is even harsher than the torrential storms
僅剩雨後殷紅 面對驕陽與夏蟬
strewn pink petals to face the scorching sun and the shouting of summer cicadas

2019-11 弋者何所慕 The archer

入秋驕陽下  錦鯉漫遊蓮間
這樣的悠然是危險的
它忘了 今我遊冥冥 弋者何所慕 的故事
A koi wandering among the lily pads under the searing autumn sun
such carelessness could be endangering
for it has forgotten the old old poem 
to fly high thus away from the aims of the archers

香山日落 恆等於 太白金星昇
The sunset of Xiang Shan always coincides with the rise of Venus
若站在 砂與水之際 遙看夕光粼粼
if one stands between the lines of the sand and the sea
 to look at the flickering light of dusk waves
近岸的浪 推來似有若無的寒冷
the tides near shore would draw forth an elusive frostiness

望斷天涯路
apprehensive of the skyline
記得那歌
would one still remember the song
我走遍漫漫的天涯路
I had travelled the far distances
我望斷遙遠的雲和樹
I had seen the clouds and trees beyond
多少的往事堪重數
there were so many old stories to recount
終日我灌溉著薔薇
day in and day out, I carefully watered the roses
卻讓幽蘭枯萎
only to leave the mysterious orchid wither

迎向秋陽處 荷葉轉向蒼白
Facing the direction of the Autumn sun 
the lotus leaves turn pale
整夏的歡歌 仍不足用以面對霜降
the ecstasy from one entire summer is still not enough
when braving the fallen frost
輕易 就放棄了當時 一花一葉終生 的鄭重誓言
easily, it forsakes their old and solemn promise:
 one blossom and one leaf
together for eternity

as the first northeast monsoon came

the koi aimlessly roamed by carefree of the rippling heart
明春 新蕊會依舊升起
as always new buds will rise next Spring 
水無痕
over the clear pond

2019-10 一夜的燦爛 One night only

一夜的燦爛 似有若無的芬芳
The splendor of one night
carrying an indiscernible sweet fragrance 
換來餘生的嘆息
in exchange for the grievance of its remaining life
此時 希冀永夜 未免貪婪
To crave for eternal darkness, maybe, is more or less too greedy
如何 實也無由 用無聲的詠歌
how, actually pointless, to praise in silence
紀錄
to immortalize
那初綻時的顫抖  對秋風夜雨的畏懼
the trembling start of the blossom
the fear for Autumn night's windy rain
以及在必然晨光前的凋零
and the withering before the inevitable light at dawn

是陽光刺眼 或淚光扎人
Uncertain if it is the piercing sun or the prickling tear drops
柔軟荷瓣上的脈絡 似乎漸漸模糊起來
the veins on the lotus pedal seem gradually became blurry
午後風中
in the late afternoon breeze
輕輕捲曲飄落 也許是僅有的抉擇
their curling and drifting off is perhaps the only choice
若是唯一 豈容得抉擇
 the only choice and choice is an oxymoron

輕輕的 溫柔的
Lightly, gently
攏住荷花
the leaf shrouded the lotus blossom.
入秋了 荷花不敵強風
Then came Autumn and hit the lotus with its relentless wind.
花瓣將簌簌落下
The lotus pedals snapped and fluttered
滑入等待中的葉心
glided into the waiting heart of the lotus leaf
一花一葉
One blossom one leaf
她的葉 也將乾萎支離成碎片
Her leaf will too wither and break into crispy pieces
 輕輕的 溫柔的 一起離去
to lightly gently leave together

The white cotton rose turned its back on the golden dusk sun
澄潔透明的花瓣 在風中飄起如絲緞
its fresh transparent pedals sway like silk in the breeze
帶走了永不可揭露的怯生
stripping her of the eternally muted timid
自在容顏 不敵深沉的變色凝視

盤根錯節的是 走過的旅途
The gnarled and interwoven roots marked the well travelled journey
看不到的是
invisible from the enlaced twine were
鋸斷了的 向天凝望 
the sawed wounds still gaping up into the sky
思念的是 那 
for the memory of      
穿過雲的
 the soaring through the clouds  
棲息過鳥兒甜酣的
the deep sweet dreams of birds perched
受風霜雨雪沁潤的
the drenching and immersing by the wind, frost, rain and snow
   化為灰燼的夢境 
of the dreamland that morphed into ashes

輕輕落進 葉的掌心
Floating into the palm of the lotus leaf
炎夏卻要回歸為梅雨
the searing summer amazingly spun back to plum rain
今年的荷季 似乎就要過去了
seems the lotus season this year will end soon 
那花瓣掙扎著的
the pedals strenuously struggled for 
盛開    full blossom 
早凋   early wlthering
竟爾同時發生
that should transpire at the same flash

舞水袖迴身
Twist and bend with dancer's sleeves
斑斑的淚 來不及低迴暗遮
its grieving tears was not able to slop spin stash smother in time
暮春的驟雨並不冷
the end of Spring flash rain was not cold
梔子花 帶著一絲分格式的愕然 
yet the gardenia was stung frozen frame by frame
淺香附身雨滴 浮游輕冽風中
with the drizzle carrying its fragrance
to float in the light and chilling wind
便得輕易回眸燦然
it will easily glance back with a bright smile

穿梭花下的魚兒 不小心露出了閃爍的遊蹤
The koi weaved under the lily
carelessly flashed its light trail
沉潛一冬的花蕾 陰鬱時閉鎖 只在暖陽時展開笑顏
buds buried and held for the winter would only peal with laughter in the warm sun

when the koi hops     do not forget 

2019-05-18 蚵棚餘光 Sun light on oyster farm

欲沉的太陽   在蚵棚密集的灘邊
The sun is about to set   beyond the beach where oyster barns packed dense
映出 淺淺的   閃爍的 金點
reflecting light light glittering specks of gold  
        梅雨正從海上來  將掃過緊附的青蚵粗殼
the plum rain is looming from the sea and
will swept over the rough oyster shells tightly clinging to the poles
  受驚緊緊闔上時  深鎖陰鬱 
when shocked, the shells will clamp tight
 locking in such deep dark despair  
逆勢敲裂時  割傷掌心的渴望 
when smashed against, the cracks would slash the craving palm
小小的驚嘆號 
                                 tiny exclamation marks                                   
卻正手舞足蹈的  深呼吸   
 with dancing limbs    taking deep breaths    
邁向陽光       
will march on towards the beaming sun

彎下頭  美麗的荷紅
Lowering her head   
the mesmerizing lotus red
在炎夏前就將褪色
shall fade before the burning summer
花心已經在蒼白 枯萎
her heart is already pale and shriveled
襯托著的荷葉 
with the lotus leaves lining behind
流轉著深淺濃淡的綠
transpiring dark light of thick and thin green 
那不可測 those unmeasurable
復 nonetheless
恁誰也能參透的沉鬱心思
shadowy thoughts that anyone could decipher

蓮蓬 荷花在風中短暫相依偎
The lotus head and lotus flower hang on to each other in the wind
 but only for a short moment
荷葉推擠 風中搖曳 
the lotus leaves push and press
swirl in the wind
卻是傷了柔軟的花瓣
 would hurt the soft pedals
青青的 輕輕的
 in light green     with light pining
莫忘

浮標 棲息在海潮退盡的沙岸 
A buoy resting on the sandy beach at receding low tide
等待漂起
waiting to float again
滿潮點 應是浮標與牽著它的竿頭的距離
the high tide point
should be the distance between the buoy and the tip of the anchor pole 
海浪正緩緩的 滾上沙灘 
the waves are slowly rolling up the shore
盪開  沙灘上攤平的漁網 
to inflate the flat fishing net on the sandy beach
漁人耐心等待著
the fisherman will wait patiently 
月升 月落 潮升  潮落 
for the moonrise moonset  tide rise and tide set
網住明天的希望
to catch tomorrow's hope

盛開時 依偎著去秋的枯葉
Blossoming and attaching to the dry leaves of the past Autumn
吉野櫻只綻放數日
the Yoshino cherry flower would peak only for a few days
褪色的葉 堅持蘊注花蕾
the faded leaves insisted on nourishing the buds
等待笑靨
waiting for the smiles
仍然不敵春分深夜最後的冷鋒
still they were unable to brave against the Spring Equinox' final cold front 
猶豫著 花與葉 孰先飄零
they locked over which will disintegrate first,
the flowers or the leaves
